Unified Threat Management (UTM)

Unified Threat Management (UTM) is a single security solution that provides multiple security functions to a network as a single system. The UTM includes a number of network protections, including intrusion detection/prevention (IDS/IPS), gateway antivirus (AV), gateway anti-spam, VPN, content filtering, load balancing, data loss prevention , and network firewalling. Unlike separate appliances, which might be incompatible and unable to block blended attacks, Unified Threat Management can more effectively prevent blended threats from damaging the system.

UTM solutions are based on simplicity and efficacy. Organizations that may have had individual vendors or appliances for each separate security task can now have them all under one vendor’s umbrella, supported by one IT team or segment, and run through one console for comprehensive UTM protection.
