Eric Sheridan

Chief Scientist

Eric credits his past career experience as an application security consultant with giving him the real-world, boots-on-the-ground experience to recognize the importance of source code analysis at scale. This ultimately led to the development of the Static Application Security Testing (SAST) engine that serves as the foundation of WhiteHat Sentinel Source. As the Chief Scientist of the Static Code Analysis division at WhiteHat Security, Eric oversees all research and development for Sentinel Source and related products, defining and driving the underlying technology. Eric takes pride in being able to support meaningful security analysis of a variety of static and dynamic programming languages, such as Java, JavaScript, C# and PHP. Under Eric’s guidance, the Sentinel Source R&D team takes a no-nonsense approach to providing continuous product updates to customers in a fast and efficient manner, a process that serves as a model for other development teams across the company. Eric also leads the WhiteHat Certified Secure Developer (WCSD) program, a free training program designed to educate and certify developers on secure coding and application security best practices.

Prior to joining WhiteHat, Eric co-founded Infrared Security, specializing in application security and next-generation static analysis technologies that were ultimately integrated within WhiteHat Sentinel Source. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a track in security from Towson University.
