In case you missed the news, NTT Application Security welcomed Vlad Nisic to the team as the company’s first VP of EMEA Sales last month, marking an important milestone in a focused expansion across the region.
We caught up with Vlad to learn a little more about him, and here’s what he had to say:
Q: Why did you decide to join NTT AppSec?
Having been in the cybersecurity industry for about 25 years, I was already aware of the company and its strong product offering as WhiteHat Security and enjoyed working with a handful of both current and former employees in my previous roles. During my discussions with the executive team, the collaborative nature and ‘can do’ attitude of the company really stood out, and it demonstrated the genuine strength the company has in its drive for success.
It was very clear to me that, from the top down, everybody was in this together. And as such, the challenge to further expand the brand in EMEA presented me with an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.
Q: What trends in enterprise security are you seeing in the EMEA region?
In the light of the introduction of GDPR regulations in the UK, the drive for greater data privacy security regulations in EMEA and across the globe is something that we need to navigate. In addition, there is also a need to reduce vulnerabilities directly associated with remote office environments.
I’ve also seen an increase in adoption of data-driven automation for critical Identity Management processes coupled with AI/ML.
Q: EMEA is now the fastest-growing region for enterprise application security spending. Does this surprise you? Why do you think this is happening right now?
The increase does not surprise me in the slightest; organisations are struggling with the double-whammy of regulatory and security demands around public cloud and SaaS. Coupled with any given company’s drive to be at the forefront of its competition, the speed at which they grasp this challenge and deliver whilst incorporating these changes, becomesparamount.
Q: With your new role, what are you most excited about? What do you want to achieve in the short-term?
I am looking forward to working with an incredibly talented team, including a ‘C-Level’ group of people who possess great humility, exhibit great inspiration and listening. Short term, I would like to expand the business throughout the region whilst raising NTT Application Security’s profile and the general awareness of our strong solution throughout the region.
Q: When you’re not working, what can we likely find you doing?
When I’m on my own time, you will usually find me at the cinema with my wife. I am a huge movie and music buff, with a very eclectic collection of both film and music.
My wife and I love fine dining and, to balance things out, we also spend a lot of time in the gym.
