Stephanie Fohn
Chief Executive Officer

 

 

 

Ms. Fohn has a broad base of management and entrepreneurial experience, with particular expertise in information security. Most recently, she was president and chief operating officer of SecurityFocus, a provider of enterprise security threat management systems. She led the company to a dominant industry position, resulting in its acquisition by Symantec in August 2002.

Previously, she served as vice president of marketing and business development for Tripwire, Inc. and director of distribution partnerships for Infoseek/Go Network. She also co-founded and led two start-ups - Lucidian Technologies, a developer of network-based intrusion detection software, and The WWWorks, a web development firm focused on e-commerce and database integration.

Ms. Fohn began her career in the security industry as director of business development for Pilot Network Services, Inc., one of the industry's first managed security service providers. Prior to joining Pilot, she spent six years in venture capital and investment banking in the technology arena. Ms. Fohn holds an M.S. degree in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and bachelor's degrees in business and psychology from University of Washington.

 
 

Jeremiah Grossman
Chief Technology Officer

 

 

 

Mr. Grossman founded WhiteHat Security in 2001. Prior to WhiteHat, Mr. Grossman was an information security officer at Yahoo! responsible for performing security reviews on the company's hundreds of web applications. As one of the world's busiest web properties, with over 17,000 web servers for customer access and 600 web applications, the highest level of security was required. Before Yahoo!, Mr. Grossman worked for Amgen, Inc.

A 6-year security industry veteran, Mr. Grossman's research has been featured in USA Today, NBC, and ZDNet and touched all areas of web security. Mr. Grossman is a world-renowned leader in web security and frequent speaker at the Blackhat Briefings, NASA, Air Force and Technology Conference, Washington Software Alliance, ISSA, ISACA and Defcon.

Mr. Grossman has developed widely used assessment tool "WhiteHat Arsenal", as well as the acclaimed Web Server Fingerprinter tool and technology. Mr. Grossman is a founder of the Web Application Security Consortium (WASC) and the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), as well as a contributing member of the Center for Internet Security Apache Benchmark Group.

 
 

Bill Pennington
Vice President, Services

  Mr. Pennington joined WhiteHat Security, Inc. in November 2002. He has six years of professional experience in information security and eleven in information technology. His duties at WhiteHat include management of research and development, guidance of product and technology direction, managing web application assessment teams, and developing and delivering WhiteHat Security training. Mr. Pennington has performed web application assessments for over four years in a variety of industry verticals including financial services, e-commerce, and biotechnology. He is familiar with Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, Windows, and OpenBSD, and is a Certified Information Security Systems Practitioner (CISSP) and Certified Cisco Network Administrator (CCNA). He has broad experience in web application security, penetration testing, computer forensics and in intrusion detection systems. Prior to joining WhiteHat, Bill was a principal consultant and technical lead for assessment services at Guardent, a nationwide security services provider.

Mr. Pennington has contributed several chapters to "Hacker's Challenge: Test Your Incident Response Skills Using 20 Scenarios" and is an author of "Hackers Challenge 2". He has spoken at numerous industry events including BlackHat Windows 2003, BlackHat 2002, ISSA LA/Orange County joint conference, and the International Airport Auditors National Meeting 2001.

 
 

Lex Arquette
Co-Founder & Chief Software Officer

  Mr. Arquette co-founded WhiteHat Security in 2001. Prior to WhiteHat, Mr. Arquette worked with Sony Electronics, where he participated in the development of intranet automation systems. He led the SONY intranet user interface team and the employee software training program. Mr. Arquette is a sought-after independent web site developer with years of successful software architecture and top-level eCommerce solutions to his credit.
