WhiteHat Security and F5 Team Roll Out Integrated Solution to Secure Corporate Web Applications

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – July 8, 2008 – WhiteHat Security today announced the general availability of an integrated solution with F5 Networks, the global leader in Application Delivery Networking.  The new offering allows enterprises to attain expert-level Web application security and mitigate the Web application software flaws that leave corporate and customer data at risk.  With the announcement of their partnership in March, the companies committed to providing integration between WhiteHat Sentinel, the industry-leading SaaS-based (Software-as-a-Service) website vulnerability management solution, and the award-winning F5® BIG-IP® Application Security Manager™ (ASM™) Web Application Firewall. 

The joint solution combines WhiteHat Sentinel’s precise and verified vulnerability data with the immediate blocking capabilities of F5’s Application Security Manager (ASM) Web Application Firewall (WAF).  Customers can confidently use their WAFs to their greatest potential—to thwart real attacks, giving developers the time needed to correct the problem, while continuing to open their websites to legitimate traffic.  WhiteHat’s on-demand vulnerability assessments also ensure an application’s security is kept up-to-date and websites are protected from the latest attacks.  The solution also enables customers to achieve, and exceed, PCI 6.6 compliance—identifying vulnerabilities, blocking attacks and extending developers’ remediation window, in one turn-key solution.

About the Solution
WhiteHat Sentinel is an on-demand SaaS-based subscription service, combining advanced proprietary scanning technology with expert analysis, enabling customers to identify, prioritize, manage and remediate website vulnerabilities as they occur.  F5’s ASM provides proactive network and application-layer protection from generalized and targeted attacks by understanding the user interaction with the application.  Through the F5 iControl® API, WhiteHat Sentinel will be able to directly configure policies on F5’s ASM to protect against vulnerability exploits (e.g., Cross-site Scripting, SQL Injection) found during the scanning process.

Availability
The F5 ASM and WhiteHat Sentinel integration is currently generally available.  Existing customers who have both WhiteHat Sentinel Service and F5 ASM with an active maintenance contract will receive integration automatically.  F5 ASM customers will need to subscribe to the Sentinel Service.  All WhiteHat customers will have access to F5 ASM integration capabilities as a new feature in both Sentinel SE and PE, but will need to purchase an F5 ASM to take advantage of the integration.
