Leadership Team ::


Stephanie Fohn :: Chief Executive Officer Ms. Fohn has a broad base of management and entrepreneurial experience, with particular expertise in information security. Most recently, she was president and chief operating officer of SecurityFocus, a provider of enterprise security threat management systems. She led the company to a dominant industry position, resulting in its acquisition by Symantec in August 2002.

Previously, she served as vice president of marketing and business development for Tripwire, Inc. and director of distribution partnerships for Infoseek/Go Network. She also co-founded and led two start-ups - Lucidian Technologies, a developer of network-based intrusion detection software, and The WWWorks, a web development firm focused on e-commerce and database integration.

Ms. Fohn began her career in the security industry as director of business development for Pilot Network Services, Inc., one of the industry's first managed security service providers. Prior to joining Pilot, she spent six years in venture capital and investment banking in the technology arena. Ms. Fohn holds an M.S. degree in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and bachelor's degrees in business and psychology from University of Washington.

Jeremiah Grossman :: Chief Technology Officer Jeremiah Grossman founded WhiteHat Security in August 2001.

A world-renowned expert in Web security, Mr. Grossman is a founder of the Web Application Security Consortium (WASC), and was named to InfoWorld's Top 25 CTOs for 2007.

Mr. Grossman is a frequent speaker at industry events including the Black Hat Briefings, RSA Conference, ISACA, CSI, InfoSec World, OWASP, ISSA, and Defcon as well as a number of large universities. He has authored dozens of articles and white papers, is credited with the discovery of many cutting-edge attack and defensive techniques and is a co-author of XSS Attacks: Cross Site Scripting Exploits and Defense.

Mr. Grossman is frequently quoted in major media outlets such as USA Today, the Washington Post, The Financial Times, InformationWeek, InfoWorld, USA Today, PC World, Dark Reading, SC Magazine, CNET, CSO and NBC news. He frequently alerts the media community to the latest attacks and is not only able to offer in-depth commentary, but also provide his perspective of what’s to come.

Mr. Grossman was named a “friend of Google” and is also an influential blogger (www.jeremiahgrossman.blogspot.com) who offers insight and encourages open dialogue regarding current research and vulnerability trend information.

Prior to WhiteHat, Mr. Grossman was an information security officer at Yahoo! responsible for performing security reviews on the company's hundreds of websites. Before Yahoo!, Mr. Grossman worked for Amgen, Inc.

Bill Pennington :: Vice President, Services Mr. Pennington joined WhiteHat Security, Inc. in November 2002. He has six years of professional experience in information security and eleven in information technology. His duties at WhiteHat include management of research and development, guidance of product and technology direction, managing website assessment teams, and developing and delivering WhiteHat Security training. Mr. Pennington has performed website assessments for over four years in a variety of industry verticals including financial services, e-commerce, and biotechnology. He is familiar with Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, Windows, and OpenBSD, and is a Certified Information Security Systems Practitioner (CISSP) and Certified Cisco Network Administrator (CCNA). He has broad experience in website security, penetration testing, computer forensics and in intrusion detection systems. Prior to joining WhiteHat, Bill was a principal consultant and technical lead for assessment services at Guardent, a nationwide security services provider.

Mr. Pennington has contributed several chapters to "Hacker's Challenge: Test Your Incident Response Skills Using 20 Scenarios" and is an author of "Hackers Challenge 2". He has spoken at numerous industry events including BlackHat Windows 2003, BlackHat 2002, ISSA LA/Orange County joint conference, and the International Airport Auditors National Meeting 2001.

Kevin Overcash :: Vice President of Product Management Kevin Overcash has joined the executive team as vice president of product management. Mr. Overcash is responsible for defining and executing the Company’s product strategy and roadmap. He brings more than 20 years of invaluable experience and leadership in the security industry. He most recently served as vice president of product management at Breach Security and held the same position at SPI Dynamics. Overcash, who has also worked for companies such as Internet Security Systems (a division of IBM), Coca-Cola and NASA, received a B.S. in computer science and mathematics from the University of Georgia.

Jeff Gall :: Vice President, Sales Jeff Gall has over twenty years of experience in technology sales and sales management. He has extensive experience in venture capital-backed start-ups in emerging market segments, selling network infrastructure and security solutions to Global 2000 companies.

Career highlights include his position as vice president of sales at Pilot Network Services, one of the first managed security service providers (MSSPs) in the industry. Mr. Gall's contributions were instrumental in the companys growth and the launch of a successful IPO. At Netscout Systems, he was actively involved in expanding the companys growth in the Western U.S., and was an integral part of the management team at the time the company executed its IPO.

Mr. Gall is a seasoned sales executive who has opened new territories, and trained and managed sales teams in both direct and channel sales organizations. Mr. Gall earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science at the University of Washington.

Mark Hodgson :: Vice President, Marketing Mark Hodgson is responsible for leading WhiteHat’s marketing strategy, brand management, demand generation and research initiatives. Mr. Hodgson had more than 18 years of management experience in high technology marketing, with particular knowledge of the information security space. He has tremendous expertise in building and driving customer-focused marketing organizations.

Most recently, Mr. Hodgson worked at Charles Schwab as the director of marketing communications for Schwab Institutional, the division that supports the Registered Independent Advisor (RIA) community in the U.S. In this role, he was responsible for promoting the adoption of technology products and services to the RIAs, such as paperless document delivery, enhancements to its web-trading platform, and online money movement. Prior to Schwab, Mr. Hodgson held management-level positions at Symantec, SecurityFocus, BigFix, TiVo, and Hewlett-Packard.

Mr. Hodgson earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in international marketing at the University of Michigan, and his Bachelor of Arts in political science at the University of California, Berkeley.
