Job Description:

For the up-and-coming security specialist: this is an amazing opportunity to flex your creative muscles as you take a crack at poking holes in websites, actively searching for security vulnerabilities that you can exploit.

In this role you will have access to thousands of well-known and famous websites. Your job will be to actively root through these websites looking for all of the ways a blackhat could use to break into a site. This position will teach you to master the basics of web application security and secure software engineering. As a member of WhiteHat Security's Santa Clara, California-based testing team, you will be an integral part of the group that delivers our proprietary Sentinel Service to our corporate clients. You will become expert at providing our customers with first-class service and guiding them on how best to utilize our sophisticated tools. Your solid understanding of web applications—not just how to use a browser, but how the browser interacts with a web server—will prove critical to your success, and you will be counted on to explain to our clients how and why our service is working for them. Your familiarity with popular web application languages and platforms (.NET, J2EE, C#, Java(script), Perl, Python, PHP, Ruby, etc.) will give you an advantage ramping up for this extremely rewarding position. Customer Support Engineer

WhiteHat Security is looking for an experienced customer support engineer to provide exceptional services to our customers and business partners in supporting our Sentinel Service offering. We are Software as a Service (SaaS) provider.

The ideal candidate will have both excellent technical credentials and a friendly, consultative approach to solving customer needs. Responsibilities in troubleshooting and providing solutions to customers, which include:

  • First point of technical contact for the Customer.
  • Development of a deep understanding of our Sentinel Services.
  • Answer WhiteHat Security support request tickets via web interface.
  • Work with our web security engineers to identify and resolve more complicated problems.
  • Responsible for engaging, escalating and communicating with cross functional groups within WhiteHat and customer organizations including the development of actions plans.
  • Address urgent issues quickly and track problems until they are resolved to the customer’ s satisfaction.
  • Document and log customer reported bugs and end-user feature improvements with development.
  • Act as customer advocate.
  • Provide status on customer issue to executive management and the sales team.
  • Effective in all oral and written communications, including taking technical information and translating to non-technical and vice-versa.
  • Excel in working in fast-paced, stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage Mission Critical customer accounts in crisis situations.
  • Process focused and self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently and effectively on complex customer issues within tight time constraints.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills.
  • The position will require shift work, on call duties after normal business hours and could require some travel (< 10%).
  • No telecommuting, live within a reasonable commute distance to Santa Clara, CA and willing to commute on a daily basis.

Skills & Experience

  • Ability to interact directly with customers to achieve customer satisfaction with a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Have a proven professional background in working with customers and consultants, including business managers, project managers, software engineers, security analysts, and data center engineers.
  • Prompt, responsive, responsible and friendly approach to solving customer problems.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with popular web application languages and platforms; .NET, J2EE, C#, Java (script), Perl, Python, PHP, Ruby, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in end-user customer support for software applications or SaaS.
  • Knowledge with databases such as MS SQL, Oracle, etc.
  • Knowledge of local networking,  TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Minimum of 2- 3 years experience with Linux, Windows, or Apple OS.
  • Internet security background (Web application security) is a plus.

Education

  • Degree in Computer Science or related technology.
